Fire Victim Relief Effort

Discovery Church is grateful to everyone who contributed to help the victims of the October 2007 fires.

Your contribution provided hope to many.

Karl and Celia Dunscombe were awakend at 2:30am by a phone call. There was an unfamiliar voice on the phone that warned them that they were in tremendous danger. They voice said, "Get out! The fire is coming!" Two minutes later they were in their car. As they made their escape, they looked in their rear view mirror to see their Pauma Valley home ingnite in a ball of fire. All they owned was gone. The house they had built was razed to the ground by a firestorm estimated to be 50 to 60 miles per hour.

Your contributions to the Fire Relief Fund made this trailer possible.

This used trailer was purchased to allow them to stay on-site as they rebuild their home. As Celia puts it, "Since it is a half-hour drive each way from where we are temporarily living, this {the trailer} will save us both precious time and gas money as we rebuild."

Please keep Karl and Celia in your prayers and all those who are rebuilding their lives after the wildfires of last October. Though their stories are seldom seen or heard in the media now that the "crisis" has passed, the real witness of the Spirit is needed more than ever. We thank God for the opportunity to help. We ask God to show us how we can help more.
